Sommige albums zijn uitermate geschikt voor uitgebreide analyses. Over andere werkstukken kan je kort zijn omdat er niet zoveel valt te vertellen. ‘Frail Visions’ van het Franse Remembrance valt in de laatste categorie. Zit u graag in een comfortabele zetel u zelf te verdrinken in melancholie bij een warme openhaard? Bent u een liefhebber van romantische funeraldoom en kan u niets met die mensonterende doom van Khanate? Geeft u er niet om naar een low-budget versie te luisteren van Shape Of Despair? Als u deze drie vragen positief beantwoord heeft, dan heb je aan ‘Frail Visions’ een leuk tussendoortje.
De soundscapes worden verzorgd door Matthieu Sachs (gitaren, vocalen en bas) en Carline Van Roos (keyboards, gitaar en vocalen) en zijn gewoon mooi. De teksten zijn typisch voor het genre (‘White, everything was gone, the wounds healed as fast as the snow melted’) en de productie is redelijk. Als het duo de muziek in de toekomst wat eigenzinniger maakt dan is een tweede album gerechtvaardigd. |
