Remembrance
Frail Visions
Totalrust Music
The first real release (the first one was a doom metal sampler) of Totalrust is the debut album of Remembrance, a French funeral doom/death metal band. The band started in June last year and was formed by Matthieu Sachs and Carline Van Roos, both members of Lethian Dreams. After the release of their first EP “Among Lost Illusions”, the band was contracted by Totalrust Music and so now they’re here with their first full-length “Frail Visions”. The first thing I noticed is that the sound of Remembrance differs from the sound of Lethian Dreams, so I can understand why Matthieu and Carline used this kind of music for Remembrance. Frail Visions can be compared with the music from Shape Of Despair, namely very slow and depressive music with an atmospheric and melancholic sound. The difference with Shape Of Despair is that Remembrance speed up the tempo every now and then. But for the rest it is still the unique balance between harmony and heaviness. Remembrance also uses clean female vocals (by Carline) combined with deep death grunts of Matthieu. Frail Visions contains 8 tracks and is a must have for the death/doom fans.
